A school bag is a small thing. To a child with a disability who has felt overlooked, it can feel like being seen for the very first time.
At Uhuru Mchanganyiko, Cheza Foundation celebrated inclusion by gifting custom-made school bags to children with disabilities — including the members of our cerebral palsy (CP) football team. Each bag was made with care, a practical gift wrapped in a clear message: you matter, and your education matters.
We call this our Bags of Dignity programme because it is about far more than supplies. For children who are used to going without, receiving something made especially for them restores pride and belonging. It turns a difficult school journey into one they can begin with their heads held high.
The day brought together our CP footballers, families, and the wider school community in a shared celebration of ability rather than disability. Sport and generosity worked hand in hand — the same children who compete with such determination on the pitch were honoured for the students and dreamers they are off it.
Dignity opens the door to possibility. When a child feels respected and included, they are freer to learn, to play, and to dream. Bags of Dignity is our promise to keep providing that spark — one bag, one child, and one dream at a time.
