On 23 May 2026, Cheza Foundation laced up and joined the Viwango Marathon 5K — running side by side with a visually impaired student who refused to let anything stand between him and the finish line.
Guided running is one of the purest expressions of inclusion in sport. A sighted guide runs stride for stride with a visually impaired athlete, calling out turns, pace, and the road ahead so the two move as one. Trust replaces sight, and the run becomes a partnership.
Our young athlete took on the 5-kilometre route with remarkable determination, pacing himself through the crowd and pushing all the way to the finish line — earning his race number, his medal, and the roar of the crowd along with it.
Days like this matter far beyond the medal. When a visually impaired student runs a public race alongside hundreds of other Tanzanians, it quietly rewrites what people assume a person with a disability can do. Spectators see ability, effort, and joy — and inclusion stops being an idea and becomes something they have witnessed with their own eyes.
We could not be prouder of every stride he took. This is exactly what our CHEZANASI — 'play with us' — spirit looks like in motion: no one left on the sidelines, and everyone crossing the finish line together.
